I ran a 5K

I did it, I can't believe I made it!!! I have never been able to run, in school I was always one of the kids that came in almost last in everything P.E. related. I could not run, I especially dreaded the day we would run the mile for the presidents physical fitness test. So why in the world would I decide to start running at 30 years old? Well I wanted to accomplish something really hard for me, I wanted to go way out of my comfort zone and do something I could never do before. I found an 8 weeks from the couch to running a 5k program on the internet, and my Dear Wonderful friend Emily and I started our adventure. Emily had already ran a 5k a couple years ago with her sister, so I was a little intimidated. We stared our training pogram and we ran a 3 mile run one day just to see if we could do it. We did it ! and I was so proud of myself I went back the next day and ran 6 miles. I was completely hooked, I loved running and I loved the feeling of achieving something so challenging for me. so I continued running on and off for a while, then 2 months ago I got a Hysterectomy and I havn't felt like doing much more than sleeping and eating, with the occasional bout of crying.
So Emily asked me if I wanted to run the Susan G. Komen race for the cure with her. I said I would try, and we did a few warm up runs. I could barely make it a 1/2 mile without walking for a while. Emily is so great, she told me if I have to walk the 5k she would walk with me. Emily's mother in Law works for Wlamart so we signed up with team Walmart, they paid our entry fee. The day before the race I was talking myself out of going, telling myself it was just to soon after surgery and I couldn't do it. I ended up going to the race and Running the whole 5k in about 36 minutes.
I said alot of little prayers that I could have the strength and oxygen to make it. I give all the credit to the Lord for sustaining me and helping me achieve something huge for me. I am also thankful for my wonderful supportive friend Emily.

Way to go!! And what a great cause to run for too! You're such a good example, I want to be like Heather when I grow up!

We miss you guys. I'm glad you're recovered and I'm sure you're as busy as ever. I really want to stay in touch with your family, you mean so much to us. We still don't know our plans yet, but I'll try to post on our blog if we're going to Idaho. I'm glad we have blogs, it's more fun with pictures!
Love you!
